HOWTO: Set AWS host name


If you want to set your AWS' host name to something friendly, the easy way to do this is edit /etc/sysconfig/network 

Change the HOSTNAME variable to what you'd like.  In my case, I changed it to barney

You'll also want to make an entry in /etc/hosts  

In my case, I typed ifconfig eth0 and fished out the local IP (10.X.X.X) and created an entry for barney
