Popping active windows to the top

Keywords:  KDE, Active window to the top

A while back, while dinking around with my KDE "System Settings" I set the "Focus stealing prevention level" to "Low"  (among other changes).  Some time later, I noticed that some windows which required attention were no longer popping to the top.  Hmmm!???!  Of course, I forgot that I had made the above change but while writing a document for KDE - specifically, see http://userbase.kde.org/KWin_Rules_Window_Attributes#Appearance_.26_Fixes - I realized my mistake.

To fix my problem, "System Settings > Window Behavior" and set "Focus stealing prevention level:" to "None"

KDE: KWin Rules - Tweaking your KDE Windows

I've been using Open Source for a lot of the work I do.  I've wanted to give back but with family commitments and work, it's difficult.

Given my engineering background, I thought another way to contribute was to write documentation.  That is, I felt I could do some level of engineer-speak and as a user, I could merge the two.  With that in mind, I wrote (and will maintain) the KDE UserBase KWin Rules document.  Have a look, it's a great way to customize the windows in your KDE environment.
